About PuzzleFeeder™
PuzzleFeeder™ is a dog enrichment brand from Chino Hills, California, that designs slow feeder bowls, lick bowls, snuffle mats and puzzle toys to help pets eat slower and stay mentally engaged. The brand is operated by Pet Future LLC and was founded in 2022.
Why we started
Our golden retriever, Nikki, always ate like it was his last meal on earth. Many dogs do: they gulp their food in seconds and miss out on the natural sniffing, licking and problem-solving that make mealtime satisfying. We wanted a bowl that slows dogs down and turns every meal into a small game.
How the Puzzle Feeder™ was designed
- The "Broken Wave" structure: after designing and testing many slowing structures, we developed a broken-wave ridge pattern and added a spinning bone plate on the upper level of the feeder.
- Modular parts: the flagship Puzzle Feeder™ Wave uses 3 detachable parts to create 4 progressive feeding modes, slowing eating by up to 15x compared with a regular bowl.
- Swappable inserts: the same bowl becomes a lick bowl or a snuffle bowl with the Licking Mat Insert and Sniffing Mat Insert.
- Materials: we tested more than 20 materials and chose a plant-based material made with mixed plant fibers for our bowls. Our Puzzle Tumbler uses OBP (ocean-bound plastic).

The Story of Nikki.
This is the case with our golden retriever Nikki. He always eats like it is his last meal on earth. Because of that, he suffered from choking, vomiting, and indigestion many times. We were worried that his eating habits may be a hazard, so we wanted to make him eat slower. We tried to discipline him, but we failed because he just could not resist his gluttony. We have tried many dog bowls also. However, either the materials were unsafe or the slow feeding performance was poor. Therefore, we decided to make a safe and practical slow feeding bowl to help our dog develop good eating habits.
